Review: Bumble and Bumble Surf Foam Wash Shampoo

DSC00258Remember when Bumble and Bumble was kind of a big thing on youtube??? A few weeks ago I could order something from them through a Dutch website for a discount, so I really wanted to try something by them! I decided to try their Surf shampoo, because I wanted something that made my hair more wavey than usual. How did I like it?

A daily cleanser for buoyant body and soft, seabreezy texture.
Benefits : Texture, Soften, Volume.

A unique blend of volume-enhancing minerals and softening ingredients help give a nourished, tousled look and feel. –Bumble and Bumble website

I really love the smell of this shampoo, and you don’t need a lot at all to get a good foam going. I prefer a foam to my shampoo, as when there isn’t a foam I feel like I would skip whole parts of my scalp while washing, which isn’t what I want from it. It feels really nice when I wash my hair with this, it really feels luxurious, maybe it’s because you need so little for it to do so much! You don’t get a lot of it though, 250 mls isn’t a lot when most shampoos nowadays are around 400 ml. And paying around 25 euros for a 250 ml bottle, when you get a 400 ml one for only 3, is a bit extreme, even for my liking!

It makes my scalp feel really nice, really cleansed and it gives me some nice volume at the roots. It improves my waves just slightly, but that’s more than most shampoos do, as they usually weigh my hair down quite a bit and make them disappear. My hair doesn’t get any softer from the shampoo though, so I don’t agree with that statement.

All in all I’m a little bit confused, do I think there would be a drugstore alternative? Sure! But I haven’t found it yet, and it’s a joy to use. I do really like this shampoo, and will use this, and I might even look for a different one from Bumble and Bumble, however, I will have a lookout for sales, because I don’t think it’s worth it’s full price. Just because you can get drugstore products for almost double the amount, for a scrap of the price. This is definitely my pamper shampoo, and I don’t mind using it own bit!

  1. I feel sad when I see all these shampoos that I wanna try. My scalp doesn’t agree with any other shampoo/conditioner except for head and shoulders or the dove dandruff stuff because it’ll flake and be irritated as all heck if I use others. Too bad good salon ones are too darn expensive for me haha

    1. I have kind of the same issue! My scalp freaks out and gets eczema on it really easily from shampoo, but I figured out what the ingredients are that mess with it. Maybe you can try to isolate which ingredients are the issue for you, so you might be able to try more? ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

      1. By comparing ingredients lists on bottles! Silicone is my worst enemy and makes my eczema flare up like mad, so I try to avoid that at all cost! Things with tea tree makes my scalp really happy and I try to use that as much as possible! Clarifying shampoos are something my scalp LOVES and works really well as well. Hopefully you can figure it out!!!
