Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag 2020

Hi guys!

It’s been a while, I’ve been incredibly busy with life and the fact that life has changed quite a bit (might do a blogpost about it!) but we are all here for the books, we know that! So let’s get into some books this year!

I’ve read about 52 books thus far (!!) which I never expected, I thought I’d read way less than that all year, but here we are! Enough books to see.

1. Best book you’ve read so far?
Though I read Little Women AGAIN this year, I won’t mention it, as I’ve got many blogposts dedicated to the best book ever. Other than that it’s going to be the most surprising book I’ve read this year:

48653640A history of Sex by Kate Lister

Now, why is this surprising? Because, my dear people, I’m asexual as HECK. Like, to the point that I don’t even read books with sex in them, I don’t want shows that are 16+ just in case, I don’t even like talking about it, I don’t want to hear it, see it, just NAH-AH. And I read this. Who am I? This book is absolutely hilarious, informative, and just a GEM. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far?
the Thirteen Problems by Agatha Christie
I don’t really like miss Marple as I love Poirot, but she really grew on me in this short story collection! A nice way to introduce yourself to not only detectives, but also to miss Marple!

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to?
The Invisible Life of Addie Larue
I know it isn’t out yet, but the Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab is HIGHLY on my list. I really love V’s writing and I’m not really sure why I want to read it so badly, but I WANT to and I want to now!

4. Most anticipated release of the second half of the year?
I am SO excited to read Hollowpox, the third book in the Morrigan Crow series!

It was supposed to come out in March of this year but now we are waiting for it until August, which is honestly still impressive as Jessica Townsend wrote one book a YEAR. It takes me at least 2 years to come up with an IDEA let alone a BOOK. This series is so much fun and I really can’t wait to read more!

5. Biggest disappointment?
Honestly, the poetry of Oscar Wilde. I LOVE him. He’s amazing, I adore his wit and I really like his short stories, but I just didn’t get into his poetry, I guess I just only like his short stories!

Oscar Wilde Complete Poetry

6. Biggest surprise?
I won’t mention the Curious History of Sex by Kate Lister again, but the book that made me want to read that one isUnmentionable: the Victorian Lady’s Guide to Sex, Marriage and Manners by Therese Oneill

This book is so funny, informative and a great beginners book to non-fiction. It isn’t a dense book at all and just GREAT. I thought I’d like it, but not that I would like it THIS much!

7. Favourite new author?
I guess that means Kate Lister and Therese Oneill are my new favourite authors!

8. Newest fictional crush?
And this still isn’t applicable to me! 😉

9. Newest favourite character?
Nothing really note worthy!

10. Book that made you cry?
Little Women, naturally!

11. Book that made you happy?
The entire Gentlemen’s Alliance Cross series!

12. Favourite book to movie adaptation you saw this year?
Little Women! I loved it so much and I sobbed in the cinema with my sister and it was the best of times.

13. Most beautiful book you bought so far this year?
A Modern Mephistopheles, and A Whisper in the Dark
a Modern Mephistopheles and a Whisper in the Dark by Louisa May Alcott.
It’s a dark story by the author of my favourite book ever, what’s there not to love about this beautiful edition!

What are some of your favourite books you read this year? ♥
