Review: 100 Years of Fashion by Cally Blackman

Did I get this book because Audrey Hepburn is on the cover? Maybe. Do I regret it? Not at all!

Title: 100 Years of Fashion
Author: Cally Blackman
Pages: 400
Published:  May 16th 2012 by Laurence King Publishing
ISBN: 9781856697989

This book documents in pictures the most exciting and diverse period in fashion: from 1900 to today, covering high society, uniforms, sportswear, streetwear, and couture. It will appeal to everyone with an interest in fashion as well as students Over 400 photographs and illustrations, many published for the first time, tell the stylish story of a fashion revolution.

As you may know, I love fashion history. It’s my thing. Ok, that and murder, but honestly, I can read HOURS on end about fashion. This book really seemed up my alley to that regard! Though, this won’t be a book that will teach you a lot about fashion history, but this is an amazing book to show off. The photos are absolutely beautiful and it really tries to be inclusive, which a LOT of books on the subject refuse… It isn’t perfect, but I do want to give it points for trying, as nearly 80% of the fashion history books I own don’t even try. This really is one of the most beautiful books I own. This really has a prime spot on my fashion history shelf (yes I have a whole shelf for the subject) and I totally recommend it as a visual history on the subject!
