So here I am, taking photos of all the books I collect, and to show them to you! I definitely buy books by their cover, sorry not sorry. Nothing makes me happier than pretty books on my shelves! So, to inspire you to get more pretty books, here are ALL the books I’ve collected and read over the last year and a half! 🙂
I will provide links to where you can buy them and if I’ve written a review about them. The links are affiliated, but I’ve added the ISBN just in case!
Barnes and Noble Leatherbound Classics
I love the Barnes and Noble Leatherbound Classics! They are really pretty and just completely drool-worthy. They are really expensive though, so that’s why I only own four. I much rather spend my money on three Oxford World Classics (they will be in here as well!) than on one Leatherbound one… But they are by far the prettiest books I’ve ever come across! I especially love the Little Women one, as it’s just my heart: pink, white and gold. There was never a more ME book than this one!
Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales by the Brothers Grimm (isbn: 9781435158115)
Little Women and Other Novels by Louisa May Alcott (isbn: 9781435167179)
the Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett (isbn: 9781435158184)
the Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss (isbn: 9781435162198)
British Library Crime Classics
I really like these British Library Crime Classics (obviously), they are really pretty books and they publish authors that are otherwise forgotten. I only have 4 of them (right now!) but they are so pleasant to look at, and they just scream British scenery, don’t they? I especially like Excellent Intentions!
Foreign Bodies edited by Martin Edwards (isbn: 9780712356992) (short review)
Death on the Cherwell by Mavis Doriel Hay (isbn: 9781464206597) (short review)
the Santa Klaur Muder by Mavis Doriel Hay (isbn: 9780712356305) (short review)
Excellent Intentions by Richard Hull (isbn: 9780712352017) (short review)
Detective Club Crime Classics
I haven’t had much luck with the Detective Club Crime Classics, I’ve only read three and one of them has been my worst read of 2018! But I do really them aesthetics wise!! I mean, they look so vintage and perfect!! I really want to collect more of them, but hopefully they will be better than these three haha.
Murder Gone Mad by Philip MacDonald (isbn: 9780008216351)
the Millionaire Mystery by Fergus Hume (isbn: 9780008137625) (short review)
the Paddington Mystery by John Rhode (isbn: 9780008268848) (short review)
Oxford World Classics
I LOVE Oxford World Classics! They use beautiful paintings and I love how their spines look on my shelves (they are all white, with a little part of the image on the front and have a tiny red spot on the top)! I’m not sure which one was my first one, but I really prefer these over most other classic editions. They have some extra information about the author and context for the story. At the end of the book they have a short “dictionary”, they explain certain phrases, as language is fluid and changes really quickly. If you want to start reading classics, I totally 100% recommend getting these, as they help you along! There will be quite a few photos coming up, so be warned!

Penguin Clothbound Classics
I do like the Clothbound Classics, but they wear off really easily, as you can tell by my edition of the Woman in White! They are really pretty and rustic looking, nothing like I would like usually, but I love the way they look so calm together! I only have three of them because they are just a little bit more expensive and I prefer to read the Oxford Classics over any other. I only get books I actually want to read so it might take a while before I buy any more of these!
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (isbn: 9780141192413)
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë (isbn: 9780141040387)
the Woman in White by Wilkie Collins (isbn: 9780141192420)
Penguin English Library
Now for the most colourful, my Penguin English Library! The name isn’t really accurate anymore though, as a lot of translated fiction has also been published in this series. I love how colorful they are, but I don’t like reading them as much. I’m not sure why, but I just prefer the Oxford World Classics!
a Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (isbn: 9780141389479)
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (isbn: 9780141199689)
the Adventure of the Six Napoleons and Other Cases by Arthur Conan Doyle (isbn: 9780141395548) (review)

the Great God Pan (isbn: 9780241341124) (short review)
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson (isbn: 9780141389509) (review)
Puffin in Bloom Classics
And for the very end, my absolute favourite collection of all time! Nothing brings me more joy than these four. I wished, wished, WISHED they did more! They do have an Alice in Wonderland edition, but it’s so expensive and it’s also taller than the other 4, which annoys me to no end, haha! But honestly, they are the prettiest little things ever and just looking at them makes me so happy and think of spring and happiness!!
Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery (isbn: 9780147514004)
a Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett (isbn: 9780147513991)
Heidi by Johanna Spyri (isbn: 9780147514028)
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (isbn: 9780147514011)
And that’s it! For this year! This has been, by far, the longest post I’ve ever worked on, haha! Well, time wise at least. It took me a couple of hours to take the photos, edit them, and write the things I wanted to write haha. I hope you enjoyed it, and show me your collection! 🙂
Oh yeah, so do I. Although I also read half the book in the bookstore.

I’d feel too bad if I did that, so I applaud you for having the guts, haha!

I kind of hide behind the shelves… and just skim. I do buy though… eventually.
