Colourpop was my brand of 2016, I really like them as a whole, affordable, great colours and great products. Are these shadows just as lovely as the others?
Our revolutionary creme-powder eyeshadow, famous for its unique bouncy texture, delivers bold colour in a soft pearl finish in one swipe without creasing, fading or fallout. – Colourpop website
Firstly, let’s talk about the promises before we get into the colours! These shadows have a very interesting texture, they feel, like they said, bouncy. It’s really interesting, as I tried many eyeshadows in my makeup life, these feel totally different to any other I’ve tried. They usually feel really soft and creamy, but for some reason Dare feels a lot more dry than Luckfully. These two have no fallout at all, but that’s probably because they are a cream eyeshadow, so it’s easier to apply! They do fade after about 8 hours, but that’s still a solid weartime. However, they do crease! Not immediately, but after a work day, my eyeshadow will be creased.
Now, into the colours!
You’ll be thankfully lucky in this deep cobalt blue satin – Colourpop website about Luckfully
We double dare you to rock this shockingly neon purple with hot pink and violet glitter – Colourpop website about Dare
Luckfully is a creamy, dark blue with a nice purple sheen (not really noticeable in the photos). It is a really nice blue, it applies better with your fingers than with a brush. I really like this shade! It’s like nothing else I have in my collection, I really like using this for more 60s vibe looks. I really have nothing bad to say about this one! It’s creamy, applies nicely, it’s price is great, great pigmentation (maybe even too much!) and just a nice shade to have!
Dare, however, isn’t like Luckfully at all, it’s really dry, applies really difficult, you need to really dig in the pot before you get any colour on your brush or finger and it’s really, really sheer. Sometimes a sheer shadow is nice, yes, but I just wanted a little bit more from Dare! It’s a nice shade, I really like the glitter in it, but I just wanted a little bit more pigmentation for this to be a great shadow. Maybe I got a wrong one, as this one is really dry compared to my other Colourpop shadows, or maybe this shade is just disappointing.
SO, tldr: Luckfully I totally recommend if you want a nice blue shadow for your collection, Dare is a bit of a pass for me.
