Review: Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palette in Golden Hour

I was really excited to try out one of the new Smashbox Cover Shot Eye Palettes, they seemed really convenient, they are tiny, so easy for traveling, with a nice sized mirror and had some nice colours. I swatched the palettes in store, and the Golden Hour was the one that really tickled my fancy. But, what are they?

This collection of 7 high-impact eye shadow palettes is influenced by trends seen at our L.A. photo studio. Each slimline, portable palette has a curated mix of 6 shadows + 2 double-sized base shades that deliver beyond blendable color in velvety, fierce foil finishes youโ€™ll obsess over. (x)

Look at this shimmery goodness! Personally, I don’t like matte eyeshadows, I prefer shimmery and glitter eyeshadows, so I picked Golden Hour to review.
There are two matte eyeshadows, and 6 shimmer shades. They are really nice and soft, but the three light shimmer shades are of a better quality over the darker ones, especially the purple one is really powdery and not as smooth.

As you can tell, the lightest matte shade is about the same shade as my own skin colour. The colours swatch a lot worse than they actually appear on the eye when you use a brush. What I do have to say, is that the three light shimmer shades are actually almost the same if you apply them on your lids and they are quite dark. I prefer lighter shades on my eyes, but they are not bad quality at all. They are pigmented, smooth, and really great for traveling.

If you like sparkly eyeshadows and are looking for something to take with you while traveling, than I recommend this palette!
