Review: Mrs. Beeton’s Book of Household Management by Isabella Beeton

Oh, Isabella Beeton, such a short life and now known forever through this book. If you have any interest in Victorian history, you probably know about this book .

This book reminds me a lot of “Things a Woman wants to Know”, and essentially, it is. You get tips and tricks about all things in life, from taking care of clothes to making soup. I didn’t really like the book, it wasn’t written very well and most of the things seemed to me, well, common sense. I don’t know what I expected from this book, but most of it just seems lacking. Maybe it’s also because the author doesn’t really know what she’s talking about (she wrote the book after about a year of marriage and she died really quickly after it as wel).

It’s a funny book to have, and also a good book to use for reference in either Victorian history or cooking, but you can easily live without it.

You can get this book here.
